“My studio workspace was cluttered and of no practical use to me, and my headspace was keeping me from the task of reorganizing it. Sarah Weinstock’s availability and willingness to jump into my mess was just what I needed to re-energize the space.
Sarah’s fresh take on organization utilized the space more efficiently and increased the size of my empty floor space. A number of practical ideas were worked out for storage in regards to electrical outlets and identifying space for extra shelving. Good tips were offered as a way to KEEP the space organized so I could focus on the next project, only after materials were put away from previous projects. “Everything has a home”, Sarah reminded me. While she organized and at the end before she left, she made sure I knew where different categories of materials were. Everything felt natural in it’s placement.
My finished artworks were well organized and made accessible in the additional shelving that was added; shelving I went out and found at a second-hand store, at a good price. Any existing baskets, boxes, and shelves were well utilized. I made decisions about items that could be pulled from the space that were making the room more like an attic storage unit, instead of it’s intended purpose - a workspace. Sarah was helpful in identifying those items in an emotionally supportive manner. No implications were made about the importance of those items, instead Sarah offered simple encouragement to make a decision. What seemed like a daunting task became manageable under her direction, step-by-step.
