I bring a rich background to organizing.

I studied fine art in college and got my masters degree in Painting from The Ohio State University.  I taught various art classes at OSU and CCAD for 10 years.  I was on the board of the Franklinton Arts District for 9 years and have organized many events, including Urban Scrawl – a 2-day live outdoor mural painting festival.  I launched the Art for Franklinton fundraiser and organized it for its first 2 years, raising money for arts in the neighborhood.  I’ve taken a leadership role in many community art events.  I ran a gallery for 2 ½ years and curated and installed international art exhibitions.  As an artist, I create interactive art installations, and host people coming together for creative pursuits.  I consider myself an artist and community organizer, as well as a professional home organizer.

Creative Home Organizing is my unique blend of skills, super powers, insight, and action toward your organizational goals.

What to expect

Call or email me to set up a time for a free phone consultation where we can discuss your organizational needs and current situation.  If we seem like a good fit, we can schedule a first session.

At this first session, I charge my hourly rate, so now we're on the clock.  We'll first look at your spaces and create a more accurate assessment.  I'll take measurements, talk with you about your goals, and we'll formulate a plan.  From there, we can either jump right in and get to work, or I can leave you with an estimate.  There is no need to tidy beforehand.  It is helpful for me to see the way you naturally pile, stack, and heap.

The first meeting is often where the bulk of the mental work takes place. Taking it all in, brainstorming solutions, honing in on the plan, and deciding where to begin is the most exciting part of the process for me. Sometimes this is all that is necessary to inspire my client and motivate them to move forward on their own.

I offer emotional support.

Sometimes objects are the vessels of powerful emotions.  Judging the fate of an item can be a deeply personal issue.  I believe that feelings and emotions are our best navigation tools in this world, and I honor all of them.  A dear friend once described me as “an emotional midwife”, and I thought that was a lovely way to put it.  I like to support people as they go through their individual journey.

I have some powerful tools and tricks for helping folks get through the purging process with ease and confidence.

No judgment

We all have a unique gift to bring the world.  Not everybody is here on Earth to organize things.  Humans are a diverse and beautiful species with all sorts of amazing skills.  I ended up with this weird organizing talent, so please outsource this kind of work to me!  Free yourself up to work on what you are good at and what brings you joy.

Picture framing and installing

I ran OSU’s Kuhn Gallery for 2 ½ years, and have done various freelance curating gigs for CCAD.  I work part time at Executive Frames as a picture framer, and I can bring this resource to my clients.  I love helping people identify the objects they love, bringing them to life, and getting them up on the walls.  I have a keen eye for color and composition, and I keep the visual balance of a room in mind.  I can do minor hanging, and am comfortable working in drywall, plaster, and brick walls.

Your stuff goes to a good cause,

I’ll take away whatever I can fit in my van and find it a good home.  I donate items to many local organizations including Redbird Books to Prisoners, Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore, Dress for Success, Clintonville-Beechwold Community Resource Center, Street Sisters, The Open Shelter, Motherful, Parson’s Free Store, Lion’s Club, Open Door Art Studio and Gallery, and more. Please let me know if you have any suggestions to add to my list!

I think this is fun!

Organizing is like a good puzzle, full of color, texture, and inspiration.  I enjoy jumping into a chaotic situation and bringing it into order.  I think I’m pretty good at it, and because it’s game-like, it doesn’t feel like a chore.

Organizing is what I do when I'm procrastinating on other tasks.  It comes naturally to me.

I have a good attitude.

I have a reputation for always smiling.  People tell me I have good energy.  I am present in all my interactions.  I have patience for unforeseen setbacks.  And I always try and extract the lesson in any situation.

I’m a lifelong learner.

I’m most comfortable when I’m learning something new.  I’m hungry for new experiences and information.  I consume documentaries, lectures and podcasts daily.  Favorite topics include self-improvement, psychology, and human nature.  I try to spread the wisdom around where I can.

My hobbies
